Case Report: Kidney Disease Management with Acupucture and Laser Therapy

Roxie is a 14 year old female Pomeranian Maltese mix who was diagnosed with kidney failure in January 2020. She was losing weight, not eating and her condition was going downhill very quickly. Her prognosis was not good. She was treated by using conventional methods, but her condition was not improving. She was referred to us by one of our colleagues who knew that we used other modalities, as a last resort. After an initial assessment using a combination of eastern and western medical examinations, a treatment regimen was prescribed. The treatment consisted of Acupuncture and Chinese herbal preparations to address her kidney condition. She was also prescribed appetite stimulants and fluid therapy to dilute the toxins in her body. She responded to the therapy, and along with love and care from her wonderful parents, she was kept alive.

A month later with Roxie’s condition not showing significant results, laser therapy was added to the treatment plan. With a combination of laser therapy and acupuncture Roxie started showing slow improvement, which continued to a path of recovery. She continued to improve in all aspects of her life and the improvement still continues. She is feeling well and her appetite and activity level have improved significantly. Above all, the kidney function has also improved significantly. If the kidney function continues to improve at this pace, we will attempt to treat her mouth, in order for her to achieve a further level of comfort in her life.
